1. AIM
To provide an understanding of the Abrasive Wheels Regulations as amended by the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998, instructing delegates in all aspects of the correct mounting and use of Abrasive Wheels and knowledge to safely operate Petrol Cut Off Saws.
2.. ELEMENTS
The course will comprise of theoretical and practical instruction covering the following:
2.1 Responsibilities under the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 & PUWER 98
2.2 Regulations and legislation governing petrol cut-off saws and their cutting discs
2.3 Operators Safety Code
2.4 Pre-Use checks
2.5 Correct PPE selection and use
2.6 Storage and handling of abrasive Wheels
2.7 Examination and testing of wheels for damage
2.8 Removal of wheels selection (inc marking system) testing and mounting of new wheel and spindle speed
2.9 The main components of the petrol cut-off saw and their functions
3.0 Resetting rests and guards
3.1 Correct techniques relative to the working environment
3.2 Noise at Work Regulations 1989
