Duration: 1 Day
1. AIM
To provide an understanding of the Abrasive Wheels Regulations as amended by the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998, instructing delegates in all aspects of the correct mounting and use of Abrasive Wheels.
2. ELEMENTS
The course will comprise of theoretical and practical instruction covering the following:
2.1 Responsibilities under the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 & PUWER 98
2.2 Operators Safety Code
2.3 Pre-Use checks
2.4 Correct PPE selection and use
2.5 Storage and handling of abrasive Wheels
2.6 Examination and testing of wheels for damage
2.7 Removal of wheels selection (inc marking system) testing and mounting of new wheel and spindle speed
2.8 Resetting rests and guards
2.9 Correct techniques relative to the working environment
3. KNOWLEDGE
On completion of training candidates will have a theoretical understanding of the following:

3.4 Marking system
3.5 Pre-Use checks

4.2 Identification of wheels
4.3 Wheel removal
4.4 Spindle wheels
4.5 Re setting wheel
4.6 Adjusting guards
4.7 Safe use
