HYDRAULICS AWARENESS

SYLLABUS

Please note this syllabus can be used for either experienced engineers or novices.

Timings : 0900 hrs – 1300 hrs (approx 4 hours) to include breaks.

 Ratio                            Up to 8 Trainees     :       1 Instructor  –  In Classroom environment

1. Aim

To make operators/fitters aware of how hydraulics work and precautions to be taken.

2. Elements

Trainees will receive Hydraulics training on the following elements.

2.1      Responsibilities under the relevant legislation, i.e. H&S Law, LOLER Regs 1998, PUWER Regs 1998.

2.2      Inspection and selection of hydraulic equipment and the sections of the relevant legislation.

2.3      Safety regulations applicable to the use of machines and hydraulics.

3. Knowledge

On completion of the Hydraulics course, trainees will have an understanding of :

3.1      Safety requirements for the use of hydraulics

3.2      Their responsibilities under the relevant safety legislation.

3.3      Inspection requirements for hydraulics.

4. Skills

On completion of the Hydraulics course, trainees will be able to :

4.1      Understand the workings of Hydraulics

4.2      Inspection of hydraulics
