Awareness Course on Working in Confined Spaces
In accordance with Confined Spaces Regulations 1997.
Course Duration: 1 day
Ratio: 1 Instructor: 12 trainees (6 in morning and 6 in afternoon)
Aim: To provide the theoretical knowledge and awareness when working in Confined Spaces.
Elements: The course will comprise of theoretical and practical instruction when working in Confined Spaces covering the following:-
a. Responsibilities under the Health and Safety Law
b. Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999
c. The Provisional Use Of Work Equipment Regulations 1998
d. Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998
e. The Work At Height Regulations 2005
f. Confined Spaces Regulations 1997.
g. Personal Protective Equipment
Knowledge: On completion of Confined Space Training the trainees will have a theoretical understanding of the following:-
a. Responsibilities under the Health and safety Law and relevant statutory legislation
b. Common causes of Dangers when working in confined spaces
c. Organisation and Planning of confined spaces
d. Selection of Work Equipment, i.e. hoists etc.
e. Inspection of Work Equipment
f. Precautions when entering confined spaces
g. Personal Protective Equipment
Skill: On completion of Confined Space training the trainees will be able to:-
a. Have an understanding of confined spaces
b. The dangers when working in confined spaces
c. What PPE must be worn and how to wear it (if applicable)
d. Put in place emergency procedures
e. Able to identify a permit to work document.
